About GGR

Golden Gate Region is one of the nation's oldest, largest and most active regions of the Porsche Club of America, serving San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in Northern California. Our club was founded in 1960 and now has over 1,500 members. We publish a monthly magazine, The Nugget, with articles about events, tech and competition tips.

We offer a wide range of activities, with an emphasis on opportunities to learn to drive your Porsche to its full potential. Most events have instruction. Click on the links below, or to the left or top, to learn more about each type of event, how to get started, and when the next event takes place.

Auto crossing involves negotiating a pre-designed closed course averaging two minutes in duration. There are always instructors available at our events, and we usually host weekend autocross schools in the spring and fall.  Usually there is one autocross a month throughout the dry season. Learn more by clicking here or see the upcoming schedule.

Driver's Ed/Time Trials are Porsche-only weekend events at local racetracks. You learn better driving skills, meet fellow Porsche owners, and get in touch with the high performance side of your Porsche's personality in a controlled environment. We usually have 5 events a year, with weekends at Thunderhill, Laguna Seca, Button/Willow and Sears Point/Infineon. As with our autocross series, participants drive with an instructor in the car, learning better driving skills at speed. Find out about getting started by clicking here or see the upcoming schedule.

As part of our Driver's Ed weekends, we also host a Time Trial Event.  This event runs the same time as the Driver’s Ed event with time runs on the last day.  Participants drive with an instructor and get signed off to run solo. Find out more by clicking here or see the upcoming schedule.

Rallies are often described as a parlor game played outdoors with cars. An example is Time-Speed-Distance which is like taking a drive in the country to Grandmother's house, only you don't know where she lives and you don't know how to get there, but you have to arrive exactly on time. See the upcoming schedule.

Tours are organized 'road trips' that typically include driving the most scenic routes possible. Some events are overnight. See the upcoming schedule.

A Concours d'Elegance is an event during which owners of restored and highly maintained cars compete to determine which entry is the cleanest.  The two types of Concours is Full and Street.  See the upcoming Schedule.

Porsche Club Racing is through our national organization, PCA. Many of our members participate in the race series each year, either driving or helping to organize and run the races. Find out more about club racing or see the PCA club race schedule.
