PCA Club Racing
GGR is pleased to re-introduce PCA Club Racing to Northern California. This page contains information from our Club Racing online forum duplicated here for your convenience. Please check the forum for news about specific events.
How to go PCA Club Racing with GGR
Step 1. Get a PCA Club Racing License. (Or, Renew your license.)
Step 2. Check the 2010 PCA Club Racing Rules for Car Classification (or run in exhibition).
Step 3. Complete the 2010 PCA Club Racing Vehicle Compliance & Annual Safety Inspection Forms. Make a copy of each and take all four (4) documents with you to your first PCA Club Race.
Step 4. Ensure you have an AMB Tranx 260 transponder (order here if you like). If ordered via PCA, delivery can take up to four weeks. You may send the order form in with your license application and medical forms if you wish.
Step 5. Sign up and Race! (Register here once events are posted). Starting in 2010, it is GGR's intention to provide all the classroom and on-track experience required for PCA Club Racing License applicants to fulfill their school requirements within each Club Racing Weekend. Could it be any easier?
PCA Club Racing Licensing
Step 0. For completeness, read the Licensing Policy/Procedures at the beginning of the 2009 PCA Club Racing Rule Book (Changes in Club Racing Rules for 2010). This section of the rulebook covers the two routes to getting a PCA Club Racing License:
- by attending and successfully completing a PCA Club Racing Licensing School; or,
- through proof (e.g. photocopy) of possession of a valid club racing license with SCCA, NASA, POC or others (see rules) and proof of six races completed within the last 24 month period (printouts from mylaps.com suffice).
Step 1. Complete all sides of the following licensing forms and obtain the necessary certifications (send forms to arrive at PCA at least three weeks before your first event):
- Competition License Application Form
- Physical Exam Form (Ensure this form was completed by a Medical Doctor, signed and dated no more than 60 days prior to the date of application for PCA.)
Note: If you are applying for licenses with other clubs (e.g. SCCA, NASA), the medical forms are so similar that your MD may complete them all at the same time with little extra work OR, I'm informed that PCA will accept SCCA or NASA medical forms subject to the "freshness" of the exam etc.
Oh, and retain copies!
Step 2. Send these completed forms, with a check for $75 (payable to PCA Club Racing) to the address shown on the License Application Form.
When you're done these steps hopefully you end up with a Provisional PCA Club Racing License. After four PCA Club Races, you qualify for a Regular PCA Club Racing License. The main difference appears to be that Provisional license holders are required to attend an hour meeting the evening prior to the event.
Got your license? Resume other preparation.
