GGR Track Season is On!
The 2025 track season is off to a great start.
Our March event at Thunderhilll was extremely well attended and was a great opportunity for everyone to knock the rust off of their driving skills which had accumulated during the off season. A good time was had by all, including PCA’s National HPDE Chair, Mia Walsh, who joined us for the weekend and went home with a smile on her face.
Next up is Thunderhill East on April 26th and 27th. We will be running our normal counterclockwise configuration and conducting time trials on Sunday afternoon. Diablo will be hosting its event on Friday April 25th so if you’re so inclined, make it a three-day weekend. This event will be noteworthy for many reasons, not the least of which is that Jim will be reacquainting himself with his 911 which, until recently, has been hibernating in his garage for the last nine years.
Buttonwillow will follow on May 31st and June 1st with Central Coast running on Friday May 30th. Many people think that Buttonwillow is too far to drive, but from most places in the Bay Area it is only about forty-five minutes longer than going to Thunderhill. (Especially if you happen to have a radar detector - just kidding.)
Our event at Sonoma Raceway will take place on June 29-20 (Sunday-Monday) with Diablo hosting on Saturday June 28th and promises to be spectacular as usual.
Also, a couple of upcoming schedule changes.
Our last Thunderhill weekend of the year has been moved to September 13th and 14th, which falls on and will celebrate PCA's 70th birthday. And with good cause, as we are thrilled to announce that after much perseverance on the part of your track team, our final event of the year will be a 105db weekend at LAGUNA SECA on October 18th and 19th. Registration for these last two events will be opening soon. There may be a Club Race option but that is not confirmed currently.
As always, please keep in mind that the sooner people sign up for an event, the easier it is for your track team to plan run groups, make instructor assignments, and take care of all of those other details required to make our events run efficiently. So PLEASE take a few moments and sign up (hopefully for the entire series) at your earliest convenience.
See you all soon.
