Track Driving Just Got Better with Time Trials

So we are halfway through our season. Three events in the books and three more to go, registration for the next event has just opened on MSR:

June 24-25: DE 4 and Club Race 3 – Thunderhill East.
August 4-5-6: DE 5 and Club Race 4 – Sonoma Raceway.
Sept. 15-16-17: DE 6 and Club Race 5 – Laguna Seca.

Buttonwillow just wrapped up last weekend, thanks so much for all who attended. Special thanks to Scott Kalkin and Jim McClelland who ran the event. Sean was racing his Spec Racer Ford at Thunderhill and I was at a wedding in Palm Springs. Turns out the weather at Buttonwillow was unusually mild, it was only in the low 70s.

For our next event at Thunderhill, we are going to bring something back from the past – Time Trials. On Sunday afternoon, we will set aside an hour or so to do official timed runs. You’ll get a warm up lap, two hot laps, and a cool off lap – with zero traffic to slow you down. If there is decent interest, we will continue this at Sonoma and then Laguna Seca. These will be recorded times per car class, so track lap records will be at stake and year end trophies to be won. I’m hoping that Time Trials could be just the right amount of competiton for many of you, between just driving laps on track and full-on Club Racing.

See you at the track!
