What a fantastic celebration it was for GGR's 65th anniversary this July at the Hiller Aviation Museum! Our club came together for a truly memorable event, filled with incredible cars, great stories, and a sense of warmth and camaraderie.

The car display showcased a historic lineup of Porsches from early models to the very latest. We were thrilled to feature three exquisite Speedsters courtesy of Porsche Redwood City, alongside some truly special cars from our prominent club members: Stormy, a custom built race car of the national AX winners Tara Shapowal-Lau and Steve Lau, gorgeous GT4RS of a multiple GGR AX winner and club racer Teddy Franheim, and a beautiful air-cooled 911 from our longest-tenured member, George Neidel, who is celebrating 62 years with GGR this year. Altogether it was a beautiful testament to the rich history and vibrant present of our club.

A panel discussion featuring George Neidel, Tara Shapowal-Lau, Ron Burton (CFO, Porsche Redwood City), Larry Sharp, past GGR President, and Howard Yao, our current President, and moderated by GGR Historian, Ralf Dossman. We enjoyed many fun stories and plenty of historic insights and inspiration. The panel was followed by the GGR history trivia and a raffle, with gifts generously provided by Porsche Redwood City, as well as several club members. The event concluded with a private tour of the Hiller Aviation Museum, led by Willie Turner, Vice President of Hiller Aviation Museum Operations & Marketing, who is also a fellow Porsche aficionado.

Events like these are not possible without the incredible dedication of many. We are deeply grateful for the work of our volunteers and  board members whose efforts made this celebration a success. A huge thank you also goes out to our generous sponsors, Porsche Redwood City.

It was a truly special day, highlighting the passion and spirit that defines our GGR community. We look forward to many more years of driving, learning, and celebrating together! Here’s to many more years of Porsche passion!
