July President’s Message
Dear GGR Members,
A lot of big anniversaries lately, we had the PCA 70th and the GGR 65th last year. We just celebrated the 250th for our Country. To celebrate this extra special 4th of July, I went to the house of Howard Ashcraft in Alameda. I have known Howard for many years, mainly at our Track events, where he is an excellent driver and a valued Instructor in his silver GT3. But the main reason I spent the 4th of July here is that Howard’s wife is the Mayor of Alameda! When the Mayor invites you to their house, there is only one appropriate answer - Yes Madame Mayor!
Alameda happens to also have the longest parade in the Nation, at 3.3 miles long. There were over 180 floats and it took 2.5 hours to complete. Sitting on the front porch, sipping coffee and eating great food, while the parade went by in front of the house was a great experience!
My article last month focused on volunteering. This month, I wanted to draw your attention that we will need a new Autocross Director next year. So please make sure you read Steve Forshay’s article below to get more details.
See you at an upcoming event!
Sincerely,
Howard Yao
