What Do GGR Members Want?

We asked this question in our Social Survey…and you delivered. Thanks everyone for the participation, and congratulations to our raffle winner David S! So, what events do you want (and where we are doing well and/or can improve).

#1 Cars and Coffee - 82% of the respondents said yes to C&C! We’ll keep ‘em coming. If you know a cool spot and/or a new C&C partner, don’t hesitate to let us know!

#2 Food-based events - 66% of responders would like food and beverage focused events, with equal enthusiasm for both “foodie”-style events (workshops, tastings) and standing lunch/breakfast/dinner. We currently have Breakfast at Alice’s and Fridays at Hofbrau, but both are low key, volunteer-run gatherings. Our Motoring runs also always end with a nice group lunch. We will beef up these offerings (pun intended?).

#3 Racing Spectating - 54% of y’all want to see the action! We hope to plan a few group outings to IMSA, Indy, Carrera Cup (likely next year as the event logistics require advance notice). We are also thinking about expanding our trackside Cars and Coffee and Parade laps to twice a year (Sonoma, Laguna), logistics permitting.

#4 Cultural Events, 45% such as attending museums, historic sights, guided tours etc. We incorporate some of these into the touring drives, but overall this is something we need help with - let us know your suggestions!

#5 Domestic and International Travel, and Charity Events, tied at $28% each -

Aside from multi-day Motoring tours, Travel is a new vertical for us, and we are excited to explore it. As for the charity events, we hope to have our first Charity Cars and Coffee/Social by the end of the year - stay tuned!

Honorary mentions for Arts and Crafts, Jewellery and Watches events, tied at ~20% each.

The survey responders shared a lot of amazing suggestions and kind words, and we also asked for a few favorite quotes - here is a sample:

“When in doubt, go flat out”

“In a spin, two feet in.”

“Most men die at 27, we just bury them at 72” - Mark Twain

"It is better to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow."

“Porsche, there is no substitute”

Switching gears, we had a fun Trackside  Cars and Coffee in late June, with over 130 cars and a packed Parade Laps field. The participants got a chance to watch our Club Racing and Drivers Education cars on the track, and take their own vehicles for a spin. Very grateful for the grid team for making the daunting logistics possible, and thank you all for your patience and understanding as we worked with tight raceday timelines and many legal requirements.

July brings our Club’s 65th Anniversary Celebration, and August starts with the Porsche Redwood City - GGR Concours. We will likely take it easy these months, due to other conflicting events and the Car Week/Werks in Monterey, but we might put together a smaller event or a low-key gathering in late August.

As always, do not hesitate to get in touch with your thoughts and suggestions!

Kind regards,

Diana
