GGR Social Recap for April

April was a fantastic month for GGR social, as it marked the return and renewal of two very special events, and the start of a new monthly series. Our Friday Night Social got a new home, our Cars and Coffee series returned to Porsche Redwood City, and our bike ride is now a recurring event.

The inaugural Friday Night Social at Devil’s Canyon Brewing Co was a huge success, with a strong and lively turnout of more than forty members. But most importantly, we had the founders of the Friday Night Social, George and Shirley Neidel, as the guests of honor, and got their stamp of approval. Great fun was had by all, and of course we will be back very soon - May 15th!

The Cars and Coffee made the return to Porsche Redwood City for the first dedicated C&C event in ten years. Once again, this event emphasized our strong partnership and deep friendship. GGR members formed the Porsche Through the Decades Display staged by Porsche Redwood City. The display showcased the exciting evolution of Porsche models, from aircooled cars to the modern GT and eclectic vehicles, with everything in-between. In turn, Redwood City treated our members to a wonderful breakfast, coffee, a DJ performance, memorable souvenirs and a reveal of the 992.2 Turbo S. Needless to say, we are excited for the next Cars and Coffee here.

We squeezed in a bike ride in May, and starting June the GGR bike ride will be occurring every 1st Saturday of the month - check our calendar for any updates. A GGR Strava Group is now available as well, and cycling@pca-ggr.org is the new hub for all the bike ride related inquiries (thanks Howard, Henry and Anthony for leading the charge!).

What’s on deck? For our May C&C we are coming back to our favorite local coffee shop, Cafe Kazka on Saturday May 23rd, 8 am - 9:30 am! Kazka will open an hour early to accommodate our group, and Hongkonese specialities, coffee, sparkling and fruit drinks, as well as breakfast items will be available for purchase. We also expect some very special guests. At our last Kazka C&C we had a wonderful chat with Foster City PD Officers, and found that the department has quite a few car lovers. We will have a few volunteer Officers stopping by to say hi this time, and we might plan a collaborative event with the PD in the future as well.
