PCA-GGR Autocross Enthusiasts,

PCA-GGR Autocross #4  Zone 7

Our PCA-GGR Autocross #4 – a Zone 7 competition event – was held on Sunday, June 15th at Salinas Municipal Airport.  We hosted 65 drivers in 59 cars, including Brant Ballantyne (PCA Zone 7 Autocross Chair) and Brian Adkins (Zone 7 Representative to PCA National).  We had 55 drivers running in Zone 7 Classes and 10 drivers in Fun Class.

Our course was designed by Teddy Framhein and while challenging due to the creative combination of slaloms, offsets and a tricky wide in, tight out turn-around, it was appreciated for its good flow and effective use of the site.  For Zone 7 competition events, scoring is determined by adding a driver’s best morning (of 5 runs) and best afternoon (5 runs) times captured using the “Clokkr” timing system.

In RAW time, Teddy Framhein (2025 GT4 RS #106) took TToD with a combined time of 67.854 sec.  Grant Keyser (with a modified 2019 Carera T, #89) took 2nd at 69.594 sec.  Monty Pack (2018 GT3, #1) took 3rd at 69.724 sec.  See photos below courtesy of Gorilla Tornado.  In PAX time, Teddy Framhein also took 1st place at 66.361 sec.  Rob Krider (2018 Cayman GTS) took 2nd at 67.789 sec, and Monty Pack took 3rd with 68.190 sec.  Also in PAX, the 4th through 6th place positions were Dylan Huey (2022 GT4) at 68.437 sec, Brant Ballantyne (2011 Boxster Spyder) at 68.404 sec and Eric Fresch (2018 Carrera T) at 68.682 sec.  Congratulations to all!

PCA-GGR Autocross #5

On Saturday, July 12th we hosted our monthly autocross event at Salinas Municipal Airport.  The event was oversubscribed with 68 drivers participating in 60 cars.  We had 13 Student drivers for which we provided full-time instructors, including several Students who continued from our April Novice Car Control Clinic.  Connie Lu designed our course which was technical and challenging,  and also served the club very well as Chief Instructor for this event.

In RAW time, Teddy Framhein took TToD in his 2025 GT4 RS (#106) at 47.822 sec.  Grant Keyser in his 2019 Carera T (modified, #89) was 2nd with 49.631 sec.  And RJ Harrison in his 2022 718 Spyder (#242) drove a very close 3rd at 49.730 sec.

In PAX time, Teddy Framhein was 1st at 46.770 sec.  Drew Powers was 2nd in his 2014 Cayman S (#138) with 47.908 sec.  RJ Harrison again claimed 3rd place with 48.009 sec followed by Dylan Huey (4th) driving a 2022 Cayman GT4 (#980, photo below) with 48.291 sec, and Dave McGuigan (5th) in his air-cooled 1986 911 (#83, photo below) at 48.295 running his newer wider wheels / tires and looking quite relaxed between run groups!  Congratulations to all!
