President’s Blog: GGR Awards Luncheon

Dear GGR Members,

We had our annual Volunteers and Awards Luncheon in late January. Another great event to thank all the Volunteers that allows this club to put on a diverse range of competitive and social events. So thank you to the Motoring, Autocross, and Track teams for all that you do. I would also like to recognize the recipients of our Club Awards. You can see all the previous award recipients on our website at pca-ggr.org/awards.

Life Member: Larry Sharp

Larry has played a huge part of PCA, Zone 7, and GGR and is a most worthy recipient of this honor.

Perc Bliss Award: Wen Shen

Besides being our welcoming Membership Director, Wen consistently puts on the best parties, she is behind our biggest club gatherings and the countless logistics behind it to make everything run smoothly.

Dong Lang Memorial Award: Parker Merrill

Parker has been a core part of the track team for decades. As a driver, an instructor, being part of the safety team, and now serving as our Track Steward, he helps everyone have fun while keeping us safe.

Don Matthews Memorial Award: Ursula Wong

Ursula is a new member that has taken our Autocross series by storm. She has jumped in with both feet with consistent participation, developing as a driver, while radiating a positive energy.

Competitive Event of the Year: Autocross #7 a Zone Event - Steve Forshay

Collaboration with LPR at Crows Landing with a great dinner at Javi’s Restaurant.

Social Event of the Year: GGR 65th Anniversary at Hiller - Wen Shen and Diana Bogorodskaya

A major milestone celebration for the Club, featuring a panel discussion, a special car display, great food and great wine!

Enthusiast of the Year: Ryan Holmes

Ryan as Creative Director for GGR developed our new social media friendly logo and redesigned our entire website. In one year, Ryan has made such an enduring impact on the club with his talent and enthusiasm.

Family of the Year: Hueys

The Huey family has been active participants in our Autocross series, bringing multi-generation drivers to our events.

Finally I wanted to let you know we have a new Board Member. Our Webmaster Ryan Holmes got overwhelmed with his design practice workload, so had to step down in order to have any time to sleep. In comes Jessica Toney, to fill not just the Webmaster position, but also the take on the role of Rally Director. We have not put on many Rally events in the past few years, but under Jessica’s leadership, I see this blossoming into another vital aspect of GGR and potentially a Zone 7 Rally series…

Looking forward to seeing you at an upcoming event!

Sincerely,

Howard Yao
