President’s Post for September 2026
Dear GGR Members,
It’s late September as I’m writing this, it’ll be officially Fall in a couple days. But we are blessed with great Bay Area weather and we still have so many great events in store for you:

So please get involved in the Club, participate in events and consider volunteering. We are still looking for two positions to be filled for next year: Vice-President and Autocross Director or Treasurer, so please reach out if you are interested in either of these positions. We need these positions filled in October for the November ballot, so time is getting critical.
GGR is a large and growing region, but our membership went down by one member recently. In a very fast and unexpected turn of events, we have lost Karen Neidel. Daughter of George and Shirley, she was basically raised around Porsches and the people of GGR. As she got older, she had served as Club Secretary once and Social Director three times. It was her third stint as Social Director that I had the pleasure to serve alongside her in 2001, when I was The Nugget Editor.
In recent years, all the Track and Club Race folks knew Karen as she helped on Grid, getting all the cars lined up properly before going out on track. It’s not the easiest of jobs, standing out in the heat all weekend, then 35 race cars approach and they all have to get sorted and placed within a few minutes. But for so many years, this is exactly what Karen volunteered to do. Thank you Karen for all you did for the Club, you will be dearly missed.
